Greetings Coach Tommy,

I want to let you know how thrilled I am about training with you these past few months. As you are aware, I’m a guy who has never really been a serious cyclist but always an athlete. Over the past few years old athletic injuries have come back to haunt me and made me realize that cycling might be the sport that would allow me to stay active, rehabilitate chronic injuries that prevented me from performing simple functional movements, and continue to pursue my personal goals of peak performance.

I realized from the start that I would need the guidance of someone who had all the skills, talent, and the personality to deal with someone who was well past their athletic prime (that’s a safe way of saying “An old dude”). From the beginning I knew that you were the coach that would allow me to continue to pursue my athletic dreams. Your attention to detail and your caring attitude and spirit has propelled me to seek new challenges that I thought were no longer achievable.

At the age of 17, I had the dream of cycling from Canada to Mexico along Pacific Coast Highway. As life played out, other events took priority and the dream was buried, but not totally lost. As we began to work together, I realized that the training program you created for me was allowing me to eliminate many of the chronic injuries I had been dealing with and at the same time you gave me the confidence that I could indeed pursue that dream I had as a young man over forty years ago.

In February of 2009 we began training together with a program that I can only say has been brilliant.  In addition, your help in selection of a new bike and your bike fitting wizardry has been unbelievable. Now here’s the great part that I truly want to thank you for. On May 3, 2009, I left Half Moon Bay, California to begin an adventure that has changed my thinking. Over a 4 day period, I rode over 200 miles to San Luis Obispo without pain and with a spirit of athletic accomplishment that I had not experienced in years.

Without your coaching this would not have been possible. You have truly allowed me to stand at the top of my own personal podium and for that I am eternally grateful. Next year with your coaching, I will attack the adventurous ride from Canada to Mexico and it will be the culmination of that youthful vision. But not the last! I have a new dream of cycling all the major cities in Italy by the time I am a youthful 60 years old, which is just 3 years away.

In conclusion, Coach Tommy and Podium Training, you are spectacular. Anyone looking to achieve peak performance in life should train with Coach Tommy. If any of your potential clients would like to contact me for additional feedback, I have included my contact information below.

I started working with Podium Training in February this year and since then I have had several wins and many top results in the collegiate field. I owe a lot of my discipline and structure to their guidance and example. The great thing with Tommy is that he is always available to talk and give advice. If anything comes up last-minute, he is there to give direction to training programs and is also very receptive to when I am fatigued or feeling strong on the bike. The fact that I went from dangling at the back of criteriums and dreading it, to actually being a factor in the sprints is a personal testament and keeps me looking forward to continuing with Podium Training.

Competing in masters racing in southern California, I race against some of the best "older" pro cyclists in the country on a weekly basis. Some of my competitors have all the time in the world to train, and while that would be nice it is not the case for me. Podium Training provides me with the guidance that I need to make sure that I get the best bang for my training buck, ensuring that miles that I am putting in are not junk miles.  The work that I am doing on the bike has a purpose... and it is therapeutic. The end result? I perform well in races, pop-off an occasional Vee, and manage life and my business in well-balanced harmony. Tommy has the knowledge of exercise physiology, the verbal agility, and the experience of having done it in races to know what works and what doesn't.  Stop wasting time.  Call Tommy.

I have trained with Tommy for three years and have had an excellent experience with him as a private trainer.
Tommy brings a great attitude and sense of enthusiasm to every workout. His knowledge is not limited to exercise physiology but includes insights into nutrition, sports specific programs and recovery as well. He puts a lot of effort into understanding the specific needs and goals of his clients and customizes the workouts accordingly.
I have found him to be a very effective private trainer and would not hesitate to recommend him to anyone serious about getting fit.

Since I have started working with Podium Training, I have seen definite jumps in my fitness level.
Having a 9 to 5 job along with a wife, 3 kids, plus another on the way, I have limited time to devote to training, but I still want to see results.  I need workouts that fit into my schedule, leaving time for work and family.  Tommy is able to get me a training schedule that gets me the results I am looking for without wasting time with junk miles.

When I was training on my own, I read books and adapted my schedule to what they said, but was not able to get to the next level.  Having someone there to constantly give me feedback as to why my body is reacting a certain way or let me know what I can expect has been priceless.

The training and workouts have only been half of the value I see here. The other part that has been just as important, if not more important, is the insight about race strategy and nutrition.  Actually knowing what to do with my fitness has been a huge part of my success as a cyclist.

I have been a casual recreational cyclist for the past ten years, but had never raced and my weight often fluctuated up and down with the seasons. About two years ago after the holiday season my weight hit an all time high and I decided I needed to make some changes. I started riding more actively and after some cajoling from my brother even started to race cyclocross. I was hooked. I wanted to drop weight and race more. Not long after I hired Tommy as a coach. I have since dropped almost 60 pounds and am earning points towards  a Cat 3 upgrade. I am probably in the best shape of my life, which is saying something since I'm approaching 40.

Best of all, my weight didn't fluctuate at all this year. I maintained an even weight through the holidays and now fit into a jean size I haven't worn since high school. Tommy has helped me develop strength as a cyclist and cultivate more healthy eating habits.
